Artist's Description
This photo of a forest of giant sequoia redwoods was taken at Calaveras Big Trees State Park in Northern California. Taken in the South Grove Natural Preserve, this is a pristine stand of sierra redwoods, the earth's largest living objects. The South Grove contains about 1,000 large sierra redwoods.
The lack of human influence is an outstanding feature of this preserve.
This ancient forest ecosystem is in its primeval condition.
